Former Beatle goes on a festive regime
Sir Paul McCartney is looking to keep his weight down this Christmas by staying away from some of his favourite treats.
The Beatle, 66, said the decision had been encouraged by girlfriend Nancy Shevell, whom he has been seeing since November last year.
"I'm trying to lay off the chocolates," he remarked. "I've got to stay in shape for the other half."
The vegetarian's comments are in stark contrast to those made by Ricky Gervais last month, with the Office star claiming he would never consider slimming down for his acting career.
"I'd never work out and lose weight if the part called for it. I'd say, 'that's not the film for me'," he told TV Biz.
