Gervais 'wouldn't lose weight just for a film'
British comedian Ricky Gervais has said he does not feel the pressure to conform to a Hollywood-style body, despite having entered the movie business with his new film Ghost Town.
The romantic comedy sees Gervais playing Bertram Pincus, who dies but is revived and discovers that he can see ghosts. However, they all want him to take messages to their loved ones.
Gervais admitted to TV Biz that he makes an unlikely heart-throb, but said he is happy playing the miserable fat man.
"I'd never work out and lose weight if the part called for it. I'd say, 'that's not the film for me'. One of the main reasons I did Ghost Town is that they clearly wanted me for who I am," he commented.
Gervais also insisted that he was not on a diet, despite reports in the Independent which claimed he was on a fruit salad regime after being seen eating at the Ivy.
The Office star said he had eaten deep-fried scampi, curry, rice and bread prior to that.
