Oprah 'determined to start new year healthily'
Oprah Winfrey has spoken of her determination to lose weight in 2009 after falling off the dieting wagon last year.
The 54-year-old talk show host has launched a number of sections on her TV programme this week, which include appearances from surgeons and personal trainers, in order to provide support for herself and her viewers who also need help beating the bulge.
"This is the year of hopefulness. My goal is to be the weight that my body can hold and be healthy and strong and fit and be itself," she commented, according to People magazine.
In December, Winfrey wrote of her embarrassment at putting on almost three stone since 2006, adding that she now weighs 14.25 stone, which is classed as obese according to the US Centre for Disease Control and Prevention.
