A new survey has revealed that many Britons may be wasting pounds in money while trying to lose pounds in weight.
According to a poll carried out by Fool.co.uk, the average person spends £118 trying to lose weight, while 22 per cent fail.
This could mean that 20 per cent of the money spent on diet regimes is wasted.
David Kuo, spokesperson for Fool.co.uk, said that people should set budgets for their weight loss and should also make sure they plan meals.
"This will not only help you avoid overspending but it will also help you avoid paying for expensive and unhealthy meals and snacks," he pointed out.
Mr Kuo also suggested exercising at home, for example, using fitness DVDs to save money on gyms.
People wanting to lose significant amounts of weight are advised to follow a nutritionally-balanced diet rather than a trendy regime, potentially using weight loss supplements if they wish to complement this.
