The scientists at the University of Tennessee found that eating three portions of dairy food a day could help people to maintain their weight, even though they are actually eating more calories, Reuters reports.
Dr Michael Zemel, who led the study, said that following the increased dairy diet could help people to stick to their regime, since they will not feel hungry.
"This suggests that diets with recommended levels of dairy may be higher in energy content (calories) while producing similar effects on body weight and fat as diets low in dairy," he concluded.
