Perhaps there is a good reason for diet products which seem to be aimed at women - new research has shown that they may find it harder to diet than men.
Researchers from Brookhaven National Laboratory in New York asked volunteers to fast for 17 hours, then try to resist a plate of their favourite food.
Although the women did not eat the food, their brains were still responding to the stimulus, whereas brain activity in that region decreased among the males.
Dr Gene-Jack Wang said: "Lower cognitive control of brain responses to food stimulation in women compared to men may contribute to gender differences in the prevalence rates of obesity and other eating disorders."
Research has shown that women are more likely to be morbidly obese than men.
A healthy body mass index is set out by experts as being between 22 and 25, while 40 is said to be 'morbidly obese'.
