A new study has found that people from the UK get more exercise on holiday than they do in an ordinary week at home.
The poll, carried out by sunshine.co.uk, found that 59 per cent of people do one-and-a-half hours of exercise on a break in the sun, compared to only 11 per cent who do the same amount in the UK.
This was put down to Britons feeling more positive in the sun, having plenty of time and not feeling as self-conscious.
Indeed, 91 per cent said they did some kind of physical exercise abroad, including swimming, windsurfing and kayaking.
Chris Brown, managing director of the firm, said: "It is concerning that for such a huge number of people, a luxury week in the sun is their only form of fitness for the whole year."
Government recommendations state that adults should do at least half an hour of exercise, five days a week.
