Staff at Selfridges in London got a rather rude awakening yesterday (January 7th) after they were encouraged to take part in a fitness class before they opened to doors to the January sales shoppers.
The five times British Aerobics Gymnastics champion Katie Cannon had been recruited to give the employees an energetic workout from her BackFlip Performers portfolio - no doubt they were thrilled on such a cold winter morning.
Ms Cannon now runs gymnastics workshops for children and is keen to get everyone involved in the sport.
"Gymnastics is such a great way to keep fit - it improves coordination and confidence in kids and is a lot more fun for adults than pounding the treadmill," she remarked.
There was no comment from the staff of Selfridges, but Ms Cannon had already promised not to make them do backflips.
Healthcare provider Bupa said in November that workplaces should do more to encourage their employees to adopt healthier lifestyles and do more exercise.
