ITV launches get fit campaign

ITV is to launch a campaign encouraging Britain to get fit as part of its New Year schedule.

The Feelgood Factor, which will be screened in January, is set to feature a host of celebrities who will urge members of the public to get off the sofa and participate in challenges and dancing.

"What we were trying to do is capture that moment when we all have that resolution after Christmas," said a spokesperson for ITV of the campaign, which will tie in with the government's Change4Life initiative.

The programmes will feature former Brookside actress Claire Sweeney, who piled on two stone in order to demonstrate what obesity can do to a person.

Anyone keen on getting fit in the New Year could try dancing or hula-hooping, both of which have been recommended recently by experts as great ways of losing weight and getting fit.

In fact, dancing can burn around 256 calories per session, as well as improving flexibility and coordination.
