"Decisive action" needed to prevent spiralling obesity costs
"Decisive action" must be taken in order to stop the costs of treating obesity from spiralling out of control, it has been argued.
Joe Riley wrote in the Liverpool Echo that Merseyside alone could be paying as much as £550 million to treat obese patients by 2015.
He suggested that education campaigns should be run in schools in order to raise awareness of the problems caused by obesity, as just six per cent of parents know that being overweight can increase cancer risks.
