Being overweight or obese could increase the amount of headaches a person gets.
This was the conclusion of a study by scientists at the US Centre for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, who found that their frequency increased by 1.2 to 1.4 times among the overweight people studied, Reuters reports.
It was found that weight seemed to be a significant causal factor, even when other variables were taken into account.
"If obesity increases the risk for headaches, weight management might be a useful approach in headache management," Dr Earl Ford, who led the study, concluded.
Last month, it was reported by researchers at Otago University in New Zealand that increased body mass index may be associated with the length of time people spend sleeping as children, with shorter times correlating with heavier weights.
