A new poll has discovered that discrimination against those with a larger waistline is rife among the online dating community.
The friendship and dating website makefriendsonline.com found that 60 per cent of its members listed a prospective date being overweight as the most likely reason to turn them down.
Things seemed to be worse for women, with 74 per cent of male members saying that they would be put off by a larger woman - although a hypocritical 40 per cent of people who discriminated were overweight themselves.
Perhaps the most tolerant place in the UK is Ealing, where only 37 per cent of men find being overweight an issue when it comes to finding a date.
Recent research carried out by LighterLife found that nine out of ten people who are overweight have experienced a cruel jibe about it.
Those aged 16 to 24 were most likely to use jibes towards larger people, with 56 per cent saying they had done so.
